This site will help consumers to make an informed choice when buying a new car. It lists the fuel consumption, CO2, and other performance figures of cars from the year 2000 on, currently on the market in the Republic of Ireland and/or the UK (some of these models may not be available for sale in Ireland). There is also general advice and guidance on ways of reducing the impact of cars on the environment.
Figures are listed for most new petrol and diesel cars on sale in Ireland and the UK(some of these models may not be available for sale in Ireland) as well as for some cars powered by alternative fuels (Liquid Petroleum Gas/Compressed Natural Gas) and some hybrid vehicles, which use both electric and internal combustion engines.

Several different specifications of a given model may be grouped together in the list and so these figures are indicative only. The figures and ratings provided are indicative only. A definitive figure for a given specification will be available at the point of sale. Note too that as the fuel consumption figures quoted are obtained under specific official test conditions, they may not be achieved under ‘real life’ driving conditions. Nonetheless the figures serve as a useful basis for comparison.
