Better Energy Communities

On 9th December 2015, Minister for Energy Alex White, TD announced €20 million in grant offers for local communities under the 2016 Better Energy Communities scheme. The scheme, which is administered by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), has supported 260 community energy efficiency projects over the last four years. As a result over 12,000 homes, community, private and public buildings have received energy efficiency upgrades, supporting several hundred jobs each year

On Thursday 23rd June, Denis Naughten T.D., Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment announced the 38 community energy projects to receive €20m in grant funding through the Better Energy Communities scheme. A full list of the projects can be found here.

This year's funding will provide for energy efficiency upgrades to more than 2,600 homes and almost 300 community and commercial facilities. The total investment in energy efficiency is almost €48 million, supporting more than 700 direct and indirect jobs right across the country.
