Biomass Fuelled CHP - Limited discretionary supports available

SEAI’s Combined Heat and Power support programme has recently been the subject of a detailed review primarily in the context of:

• The portfolio of CHP projects already supported
• The mix of applications in hand pending review
• Budget availability in 2010 and beyond

The current economic and exchequer challenges have resulted in limited budget availability for 2010. Nor can SEAI currently enter into any binding grant commitments beyond the end of 2010.

On foot of the review and against the budgetary backdrop set out above the following decisions have been taken:

• Effective immediately the Fossil Fuel (oil and gas based) CHP support programme will close with no further applications being accepted.  Parties who have already submitted applications to SEAI will receive direct correspondence from SEAI as to the specific disposition of their applications
• The Bio CHP Support will continue to operate on the basis of limited discretionary supports being available, in that applications will continue to be accepted and reviewed. For information refer to www.seai.ie/bio_chpgrants. Any grant commitments will be subject to limitations in the context of the budget limitations identified above. Prospective applicants for Biomass Fuelled CHP Grant Support are advised to contact SEAI in the first instance.
