SEAI is offering grants of up to €5,000 for a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) or a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) purchased and registered before the end of December 2013. In addition to the grant, a BEV will qualify for Vehicle Registration Tax relief of up to €5,000 whereas a PHEV qualifies for up to €2,500 VRT relief. This provides a maximum combined subsidy (grant + VRT relief) of €10,000 in the case of a BEV and €7,500 for a PHEV. The grant is accessed via the Dealer. These webpages will tell you which vehicles are eligible and where you can find a Dealer near you. In addition, ESB will be providing free connection points in the home of each of the first 2,000 vehicles purchased. Up to 1,500 public street charging points with 30 fast charging points will be installed by the end of 2011. For more information on charging points visit http://www.esb.ie/main/sustainability/ESB-ecars.jsp .
