Electric Vehicles (EV) refer to both Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV). Ireland's target is to achieve 10% electric vehicle usage by 2020, which is equivalent to having 230,000 vehicles on the road. The Government is providing a grant towards the purchase of the first 6,000 EVs in order to encourage Irish Consumers to consider switching to an electric vehicle.
