Minister Rabbitte says scheme is a win-win for all
18th June 2012
Grants to upgrade your home’s energy efficiency and lower your energy bills, are available through the Better Energy Homes scheme, administered by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI). Homeowners can join the 125,000 others who have already improved the comfort levels in their home and received cash grants through the scheme to install insulation, solar panels and heating system upgrades.
Commenting on the continuing availability of grants, Mr Pat Rabbitte Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources said: “The Better Energy Homes scheme is a win-win for all. Homeowners save on the cost of works and benefit from ongoing energy savings. The scheme creates and supports valuable jobs in the construction sector. And Ireland gains from reduced reliance on imported fossil fuels and reduced harmful emissions.
"Summer is the ideal time to install energy saving measures in your home and save up to 20% off your energy bills. The Better Energy Homes scheme offers the perfect opportunity to improve your home’s energy performance in preparation for the winter ahead.”
Grants are available for attic insulation, wall insulation, heating and controls upgrades and solar energy systems. A grant for an after works Building Energy Rating is also available.
Applications can be made online (with immediate offer), or alternatively by post. Homeowners are reminded that they must apply for and receive a grant offer before they get a registered SEAI contractor to complete the works.
