€250,000 in grants available for new Energy Efficient Design Management Framework - EXEED
Driving efficiency and innovation in the design process
24th May 2016: The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) recently launched the EXEED (Excellence in Energy Efficient Design) Certified Program, a new management framework which complements the Irish Energy Efficient Design Standard I.S.399. Up to €250,000 per applicant has been made available in 2016 for businesses or organisations undertaking a building retrofit, facility or process upgrade which follows the EXEED principles to maximise energy efficiency.
Commenting, John O' Sullivan, Head of Development at SEAI said: "EXEED helps the owners and operators of facilities to continuously achieve energy savings. It also benefits investors by helping them identify projects with valuable green credentials and lower financial risks. At the same time service suppliers can adopt an innovative approach to boost their quality and profitability."
O' Sullivan added: "There is already great interest in EXEED. In addition to providing new energy savings that will help towards Ireland's current and future national energy targets, it will create new business development opportunities with export potential for the Irish energy and engineering services industry. It will play to Ireland's strengths in energy management."

NOTES TO EDITOR
The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) has a mission to play a leading role in the transformation of Ireland to a society based on sustainable energy structures, technologies and practices. SEAI is partly financed by Ireland's EU Structural Funds Programme co-funded by the Irish Government and the European Union.
- EXEED facilitates and rewards energy efficiency in businesses by integrating energy management at the earliest stages of design and independently certifying assets for optimum energy performance.
- It can be used in any new, modified or renovated facilities, buildings, equipment, systems and processes for projects of any scale or complexity.
- The grant support is being offered for professional services towards the application of EXEED Certified and towards additional capital required as a result of opportunities identified and implemented through the process.
- Additional mentoring, information and advice will also be provided by SEAI.
