The Crowley family

Co. Cork

Residents:                        Three, two parents and one son, with another visiting frequently
House:                              Detached bungalow, built circa 1970s; solid block construction

Overview:

The Crowleys said they were comfortable with their level of thermal comfort and have low demands but did not practice efficient control which would both increase comfort and reduce heating consumption in rooms not used often.

The Crowleys found that applying the simple tips of closing the curtains and internal doors to keep the heat in the rooms being occupied and by turning off the radiators in the bedrooms not being used was very simple and didn’t take long for them to get used to. The Crowley’s also found that their large south facing windows allowed for plenty of sunshine to help heat the rooms they occupied the most during the day and that the heat would remain in the rooms during the evening reducing the need for having to use the central heating much.
