Co. Dublin Residents: Three, two parents a baby
House: 1800s Mid-terrace; solid block construction Overview: The Heerys have been in the house 4 years and have had problems getting the house to a comfortable temperature and have increased thermal comfort since their baby was born. They made simple changes using the settings on their gas boiler and also by adjusting the timer settings according to when they needed the heat the most and to turn the heating off if they were away for weekends. The Heerys were as dedicated and determined with their approach to the lighting challenge as they were with all the other challenges. They made sure they understood exactly what impact and benefits all of the simple changes would have. By being aware of the impact of their improved behaviour the Heerys were able to have complete control over how they used energy in their house more efficiently. |
