Emerging Energy Technologies in Ireland:A Focus on Carbon Capture and Hydrogen ; (PDF, 2.36MB)
Summary: This report takes a preliminary look at CCS and hydrogen use as components in an emissions reduction strategy for Ireland, and does not put forward specific recommendations.

Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage in Ireland; (PDF, 1.97MB)
Summary: The purpose of this study is to build on the previous SEAI report on emerging technologies, which dealt with CCS and hydrogen, and provide more accurate economic figures and scenarios of future deployment. In the previous study, integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) plants with CCS were identified as potential medium term emissions reducing solutions. These are thus the focus of this study.

Assessment of the potential for geological storage of CO2 for the Island of Ireland; (PDF, 3MB)
Summary: This is the first major study of its kind into Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in Ireland. It has identified Kinsale Head Gas Field off the south coast of Ireland as the best short term option, subject to further geological analysis, for offshore storage on the island. Appendix I and Appendix II which accompany this report are also available to download here.
