Consultation
The draft OREDP, SEA Environmental Report and Natura Impact Statement are currently available from the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources website (www.dcenr.gov.ie) and on SEAI's website here.
The draft OREDP and SEA Environmental Report have been sent to the Environmental Authorities (EPA, DEHLG and DCENR) for their comments and transboundary consultations have also been arranged as required under the Statutory Instrument S.I. No. 435 of 2004.
The Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will inform the Appropriate Assessment of the draft OREDP and has been sent to the statutory consultee for feedback.
The closing date for submissions on all three documents was the 6th May 2011.
Following the public consultation, all submissions will be reviewed and a post-consultation report will be published. The draft OREDP will be reviewed in light of the environmental findings and the public consultation, prior to finalisation. The final version of the OREDP, which will include the Appropriate Assessment decision, will then be adopted and published together with a Ministerial SEA Statement which will set out how environmental considerations have been integrated into the plan and how feedback from the public consultation has been considered.
SEAI's Ocean Energy Development Unit hosted four public consultation workshops during November 2010 to explain the SEA process, with representatives from DCENR introducing the OREDP and the consultants involved with compiling the Environmental Report discussing the findings. The events were held in Cork, Galway, Dublin and Donegal during the third week of November.
The presentations from the consultation events are now available here:
