Display Energy Certificate for Schools

What is a DEC?

A DEC is a certificate which displays the school’s energy consumption in terms of kWh/m2. A kWh or kilo Watt hour is a measure of energy and m2 is the size of the building.

Do all schools need a DEC?

Schools greater in size than 1000m2 are now required to complete a “display energy certificate” and display it in a public area.

How do you know if your school is energy efficient?

The DEC is similar to an energy label on a fridge or washing machine with a scale of A to G, A being the most energy efficient and G being the least efficient.
