Senior Winner 2012 - DART

Transition Year, Holy Child Secondary School, Killiney, Co Dublin Teacher: Regina Greehy Team DART aimed to raise awareness about the importance of recycling DART train tickets in order to reduce energy and tackle climate change.   They surveyed students to see how they travel to school, what type of ticket they purchase and whether they recycle their tickets or whether they simply throw them away.

They then set up the Dart ticket recycling points in their school and in the local Dart station.  They also promoted the use of the new LEAP card as a way to reduce the amount of paper /cardboard the students were wasting by purchasing individual tickets every day when travelling to school.
