There are many wonderful websites where you can find out more about energy.  Some can be used with your class and others make great resources for background information

Irish Campaign for climate change this has a section for primary schools.

An Taisce Green Schools Programme
The green schools programme encourages schools to get involved in reducing waste, saving energy and water to achieve a green flag.

ESB - Energy for ChildrenSee how much energy you can save in this online, interactive game "The Energy Challenge".

Airtricity - Green Zone
This site has lots of information on renewable energy and your environment. There are resources for teachers and an interactive section for students.

Eco-Unesco
Eco-Unesco is Ireland’s environmental education and youth organisation.  Eco-Unesco run the YEA, an annual environmental awards programme for young people.

Planet Aqua
This site this site is all about our aquatic environment and how to protect it. There is also a teachers' section with ideas for lesson plans which fit into the SESE curriculum.

Action Renewables
This Northern Ireland based site has lots of information about renewable energy.

Over 50,000 links, as well as teacher aids such as sample lesson plans, curriculum materials, monthly educational site reviews, and educator forums.

EduGreen - Renewable Energy
This website is geared towards children.  It looks at renewable energy resources.  There is a poetry section which you can look at with John Lennon’s Imagine playing in the background.  There is also a story section and a quiz section.

Making Energy Saving Fun
Stop the Energy Monkeys from wasting all the energy; test your knowledge on "Watts the answer" on-line quiz.

Energy Information Administration
Good site with child friendly explanations on energy. Some great classroom activities, extensive glossary and more.

Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Network
This website has documents (some available as pdfs) about how renewable energy resources can be used in the home, in businesses, in schools and in modes of transport.

Energy Planet
Find information about all kinds of energy sources on this ThinkQuest site. Includes pictures, videos, and explanations of how energy works!

Energy Quest
California Energy Commission's award winning website for children. Also great for parents and teachers.

Global Warming Kids Site
Informative, child friendly site which explains all about global warming and the greenhouse effect. Although a bit text heavy, it is explained in simple language.

Stop the Guzzler Game
He loves to waste energy. The more he wastes, the bigger he gets. Your job is to turn off the energy wasters in each room.

Very child friendly site featuring Tiki the penguin.

A great interactive site for kids and teachers, from the EU.

US Department of Energy
Good interactive site with on-line crosswords, puzzles and memory games. Try and beat the energy Hog! Or do the energy Scavenger Hunt in your home.
