Energy Efficiency Project
In order to make their school more energy they are creating an awareness campaign to inform students and teachers about energy efficiency.
Areas that they spotted needed immediate action were their IT rooms, where there was lots of energy wastage when computers and other machines were left switched on. They also identified all the waste with lighting being left on.
This 4th year group have produced a simple leaflet that will be sent home to everybody in the school with the school newsletter . This will tell them how they can become more energy efficient without costing them anything.

Patrick Fitzgerald a 4th year student explains what they are up to “We're going to have a energy efficiency/environment day in our school on the 27th of February. As well as that we're creating a presentation for primary schools on how they can have an affect in the world they live in.. We have to change how the school uses energy. It's a huge project; there are over 1200 students in Mercy Mounthawk Tralee so in terms of numbers it gigantic. We have the foundation blocks in place, all we have to do now is build on it and hopefully the project will grow.”
