The A-Z of Global Warming

This project about Climate change by Banbridge High School in Banbridge, Co Down were Junior winners in the Climate Change category at the ECO-UNESCO’s Young Environmentalist Awards 2009. The inspiration for this project came from Captain Crozier, famed artic explorer and Banbridge native. The aim of the project was to educate their fellow students and community about Climate change. It's a subject close to their heart, as they worry that their school mascot - the polar bear- may soon disappear.

As part of their project work the group of students developed a DVD called 'The A-Z of Global warming'. In this DVD each letter of the alphabet describes a specific aspect of Climate Change. One member of the group was selected to travel to through the artic in Captain Crozier's footsteps as part of an international voyage to witness the effects of Climate Change first hand. Inspired by this trip the group expanded their project by talking to local media, hosting an open night and creating artistic displays. Now the group is working on getting teachers to integrate Climate Change into the curriculum.
