Research Tools

Before you can run a campaign you will need to find out more about your topic. There are lots of ways to research a topic. The focus should be on action research, for example, using surveys to find out what people in the school or community think about aspects of the chosen topic. Students could:

  • Carry out a survey to see what your target audience think or do about a topic
  • Phone, email or interview an expert
  • Write to an organisation or invite a guest speaker to the school
  • Research topics in books, magazines, newspapers or on websites

See Student Resources for more help on the above.

You can read up on your topic in books and magazines. Why not go to the library? See www.library.ie for details of your local library.

You can research on the internet, to get you started why not check out the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland’s web pages for schools www.seai.ie/Schools/ and www.change.ie.
