Citi  Ireland offers a broad range of financial services and products in Ireland with bases in Dublin and Waterford, and employs 2,200 people.

Project Description

Last year, Citi Ireland made record energy savings reducing CO2 emissions by over 2,400 tonnes and utility costs by nearly €350,000. In recent surveys, over 80% of Citi employees stated that they are proud to be working for an organisation so committed to environmental sustainability and as a result, over 91% of the employees surveyed now admit to undertaking at least one energy saving action per day.

Citi Ireland commenced the energy awareness campaign over 3 years ago, in 2009, it built upon previous year’s successes, setting new targets and in addition to embracing a strict energy management regime. Efforts focus on ensuring long-term behavioural change amongst the 2,200 employees, tenants and partners (service providers, suppliers, vendors etc.) at the facility. 

Success is attributed to a combination of a strong awareness campaign that has contributed to distinct behavioural swing towards environmental sustainability, an in-depth programme of managing building and equipment energy utilisation and a supporting real estate strategy.

Citi continually target day- to- day activities and have a determined agenda to minimise environmental impact through waste management strategies, travel initiatives, green procurement, water and energy conservation.

Judges Description
Highly innovative awareness campaign concentrating on all aspects of the carbon footprint of the business delivered alongside technical improvements. Achievements are effectively measured and reviewed.
