Stage 2: Activate your campaign and present

Deadline 31st January 2020

Get working on your film and campaign

  • After reviewing the judges’ feedback, teams make their 1-Minute Film
  • Once teams have completed their film, they should start on their Promotional Campaign, making sure to spread their message in as many ways and on as many platforms as possible
  • Finally, teams should create a 3-minute Powerpoint Presentation highlighting the key points and outcomes of their project

Submit your film and presentation

  • Teams will need to submit their 1-Minute Film and 3-minute Powerpoint Presentations to the online awards platform by no later than 31st January 2020.
  • Films and presentations will be reviewed by the One Good Idea Project Team to ensure there are no technical issues and that all content is appropriate
  • Teachers will receive notice before the regional competition should any changes need to be made to their team’s film or presentation

Receive your regional competition event pack: 10th February

  • Event Packs including key information/forms for the day of the event, adjudication criteria, and helpful hints and tips will be sent to your team’s school
  • Teachers should carefully review the Event Pack info and submit all necessary forms.

Attend regional finals: 24th- 28th February

  • Teams will present both their film and PowerPoint to judges and audience members at the Regional Event
  • Winners from each regional event will go on to present at the National Final Competition in Dublin.

Participation in the competition

  1. Team members must be registered students in a school from the Republic of Ireland for their entry to be considered valid. The Promoter (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, situated at Wilton Park House, Wilton Place, Dublin 2) reserves the right to seek verification from the relevant school of the registration of any students who have entered the competition.
  2. It is the responsibility of all participating schools to give permission for their students to participate in the programme and oversee their participation therein.
  3. A teacher/principal must tick the Terms and Conditions checkbox field on each team's entry form to validate permission for all participants. This includes students’ participation in any social media or online engagement, content, or promotion entered into as part of their project. The Promoter is not liable in any way for costs, expenses, damages, liability or injury arising out of or in any way connected with the Awards programme.
  4. Each team must comprise of a minimum of two and a maximum of six students to participate.
  5. Entries must be anchored in energy / climate change related topics as outlined in the project pack and on the website.
  6. The closing date for the receipt of One Good Idea Proposals is Friday, 18th October 2019. The Promoter reserves the right to extend this deadline.
  7. All submissions must be made via the online platform.
  8. Each teacher that enters teams into the competition will go into a prize draw for a teacher’s prize of a hotel voucher. The winner will be announced in May 2020 and notified by phone, email or mail. The teacher’s prize is non-refundable and cannot be exchanged. No cash equivalents are available as an alternative for the prize that is offered.
  9. The shortlisted Primary and Post Primary teams for the Regional Event will be selected and notified the week beginning 19th November, 2019.
  10. The Primary and Post Primary finalists to attend the National Final will be selected and notified on the day of their Regional event, commencing the week of 24th February, 2020.
  11. The shortlisted Primary and Post Primary teams will receive feedback and assistance from the One Good Idea team on how to activate their campaign and document it in their Presentation Pitch / Video throughout November 18th 2019- April 2020
  12. The closing date for receipt of the Stage 2 Regionals Presentation Pitch is 31st January 2020.The Promoter reserves the right to extend this deadline.
  13. The shortlisted Primary and Post Primary teams submit a 1 minute video, PowerPoint Presentation and campaign diary form online. Teams may also submit additional work such as photos / posters etc., however this is optional.
  14. The teacher / school must verify it has obtained valid consent for the use of any images or videos of a minor when submitting their projects.
  15. Please keep a record of all creative pieces on an electronic or digital format. The Promoter requests that all audio pieces be electronically transferred.
  16. Real Nation and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland cannot accept responsibility for lost, damaged or delayed entries. Proof of posting / e-mailing is not proof of receipt. Entries cannot be returned to entrants. 
  17. Employees and family members of employees or persons directly associated with Real Nation and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland are not eligible to enter this competition.
  18. The personal details of entrants will be used solely for the purpose of the One Good Idea programme.  All personal details submitted by entrants will be treated with confidence and in full compliance with GDPR legislation.
  19. Individual prizes, all of which are based on the category of the prize winner, will be detailed on the website in advance of the National Final, April 2020. Prize winners will receive their prizes and/or trophies on the day of the National Final.
  20. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. No cash equivalents are available as an alternative for the prizes that are offered.
  21. If you are prize winner, or a teacher of a winning team, you will be required to take part in publicity (photographs, videos, interviews, quotations) and your name, photo and school name may be used in relation to this on the SEAI website, SEAI social media websites, in local or national newspapers, televised news programmes, and/or for marketing purposes in relation to current and future One Good Idea Competitions.
  22. During the One Good Idea Competition, the SEAI Facebook page and other social media websites will be used to share varied information relating to the competition including interviews with students, photographs, links to film/videos, and testimonials of participating schools. Should any of the information be taken and used for other purposes which are beyond the control of SEAI, the Promoter is not responsible.
  23. Copyright of all original material entered in this competition is retained by the author. By submitting a project for entry, the entrants and the relevant school or college grant the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland the right to reproduce the entry (in full or in part) on the radio, on the website at www.seai.ie, social media or in such other publication as the Authority might nominate, without payment.
  24. We will engage third parties, including photographers and event companies to process your personal data on our behalf. We will do so only where appropriate contractual arrangements are in place which shall protect the personal data.
  25. The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland reserves the right to amend, withdraw or terminate the competition or alter the specification of the competition without prior notice should that specified be unavailable for reasons beyond their control.
  26. Notwithstanding that the winners may have been declared, if the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland discovers before the distribution of prizes that for any reason under these rules a winner should have been ineligible to enter the competition or if the entry should have been declared invalid, the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland reserves the right to determine that a winning team is disqualified.
  27. All entrants agree to be bound by the rules of the competition; failure on the part of any entrant to adhere to any or all of these rules will render the entry in question invalid.
