Project Description

Increased integration of renewable energy (RE) onto the grid creates potential issues in operating the grid reliably. The overall objective of this work programme is to investigate the electrical and grid connection challenges that developers face in connecting RE to the grid, and to support the industry partner and grid operators to develop innovative solutions to these issues to ease the commercialisation path of RE projects that are in the pipeline, resulting in significantly greater export of electricity. Further objectives include investigating centralised power conversion strategies and storage to lower the overall costs and to balance intermittent energy production respectively.
