SEAI welcomed 4,000 attendees to the SEAI Energy Show, which took place in the RDS on March 27th and 28th. The event showed the vibrancy of the energy sector and the pace of innovation, as new energy-saving technologies come to the market.

Central to this innovation was Xylem Water Solutions for its SmartBall which won both the ‘Overall Product of Show Award’ and the Innovation Award. The SmartBall technology enables the easy identification of leaks in pipes used for water and waste water by recording acoustic activity as it passes through a pipeline.

For many years, the Product of the Show Awards have championed innovative product development, especially those incorporating smart energy solutions. Considerable investment in R&D, coupled with rapidly changing technology, have seen a wave of pioneering products and systems featured at the Show. The winners all share a passion for a clean energy future and are providing businesses and consumers with exciting new energy products that will help us use less and use clean.
Paul Martin, Programme Manager at SEAI and Chairperson of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers Ireland

Commenting on their win, Jason Howlett from Xylem Water Solutions said:

“We are delighted to be the overall winner of the SEAI Product of the Show Award. We have a passion for smart technology to drastically reduce capital costs, reduce energy and prevent water losses. The SmartBall is an innovative solution and based on numerous case studies can typically save 99% on a normal age based asset replacement programme. This award is recognition of a pioneering product that is ground breaking in its field.”

Other winners included:

  • Grundfos who won Best Energy Efficient Product for its Magna 3 circulation pump which can achieve up to 75% energy savings
  • Easi LED Lighting who won Best Lighting Product for its ZERO UV Panel, a low energy light, that is completely UV free and is suitable for pharma facilities that encourage bacteria as a part of a manufacturing process.
  • METAC Training who won Best Services Provider for its full suite of certified training courses nationally and internationally recognised by QQI and Blueflame
  • Unitherm Heating Systems who won Best Renewable Product for its LG Therma V R32 air to water heat pump which can heat water up to 65 degrees Celsius without needing a backup heater.

In addition to the 150 exhibitors in the RDS, the Show featured; an extensive electric vehicle showcase with free test drives, live retrofit demonstrations, a new lighting pavilion, an international markets area, expert seminars and multiple networking events.
