SEAI looks forward to delivery of objectives from Cabinet meeting

20 July 2017

SEAI has welcomed the priorities and commitments reached at the Special Cabinet Meeting on climate change. Building on its track record of delivering material results in addressing climate change, SEAI will be at the heart of delivery on many of the objectives set and it has welcomed commitments on further funding for energy efficiency, renewable energy, electric vehicles and renewable heat.

"We all know that Ireland faces a significant challenge in reaching our climate change targets but we are determined to deliver the type of step-change that is required" said CEO of the SEAI Jim Gannon.

"Today's cabinet meeting underlines the importance of this issue and how it has, very recently, become a priority across government departments. SEAI will be at the core of this work, building on our track record of working with almost all Government Departments in addressing climate change over our 15 year history. Our investment, initiatives and information help consumers, business and communities every day to make the right choice and to feel empowered to make real changes. This is not a matter of policy working in isolation, our role is to provide that link that turns policy into reality on the ground and our experience in delivering real impact in addressing climate change will go a long way to turning Government commitments into national reality."
