The Large Industry Energy Network (LIEN) is a voluntary grouping, facilitated by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), of companies that work together to develop and maintain robust energy management.
180 of Ireland’s largest energy users are members of the LIEN. Over 80 of these companies are also members of the Energy Agreement Programme, and are now working towards the new international standard ISO 50001. LIEN membership account for approximately 54% of Ireland's national industry Primary Energy Requirement.
The 180 companies of the Network now represent approximately 20% of the national Total Primary Energy Requirement and an annual energy sepnd of €1.2bn. On average over the last five years, the LIEN has achieved year-on-year energy performance improvements of approximately 1%. The members who joined the Network in 1995 have achieved an improvement in energy performance of 27%, in comparison to the year they joined.
Regular networking events, workshops, seminars and site visits provide the opportunity for members to meet and learn from specialists, including energy experts, and also from their fellow energy managers on the solutions that work. By learning from experts and sharing knowledge and experiences, members save valuable research time, invest wisely and maximise returns.
The LIEN Network provides members with expertise, special assistance and individual mentoring, and acts as a centre for communication across the Network as a whole.
