Electric vehicles offer your business savings through refuelling, maintenance, tolls, and motor tax.

A wide range of savings

You may expect to save on fuel costs with an electric vehicle. But did you know that maintenance costs should also be lower? Add to that savings on toll charges and motor tax to make electric vehicles even more attractive.

Studies show that an electric vehicle running cost can be as little as 20% of the cost of a similar size diesel engine.

Fuel costs

Many fleet operators see fuel cost as a significant factor in their competitive edge.

Maximise savings

Save even more when you recharge your vehicles on night rate electricity tariffs. This ensures you maximise the savings with electricity rates close to half of a standard daytime rate.

Compare energy consumption

This table compares the energy consumption of two typical vehicles. Use our Electric Vehicle Compare and Calculate tool to compare different models.

Engine type Advertised energy consumption Cost of unit of Energy Cost per 100km
Diesel 6.0L/100km €1.30/L €7.80
Electric 16kWh/100km €0.12/kWh* €1.92

Vehicle service costs

All vehicles need to be serviced occasionally. However Battery Electric Vehicles (B.E.V.s) have fewer moving parts than an Internal Combustion Engine (I.C.E.). This means there is less to wear out and no timing belts, fuel filters or engine oils to replace.

Reduced wear

The regenerative braking system used in electric vehicles, uses the motor as a generator when the brakes are pressed.  As a result the amount of friction braking required is very low compared to I.C.E. vehicles.  This is particularly good news when vehicles are being used around urban areas where brake pads tend to wear very quickly.

Battery health

One of the main concerns about servicing and maintaining an electric vehicle is the battery health. In fact, industry experience from the stock of electric vehicles active around the world shows that batteries are very durable.
