Tracking effects of Covid-19 on energy supply and demand - monthly updates

This note provides a brief overview of the trends in energy demand for electricity, gas and oil in Ireland since 1st January 2020. This analysis is based on short term data on electricity and gas use from Eirgrid and Gas Networks Ireland respectively, and monthly data on oil products from the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications.

The most recent data included in the demand trends is for November/December when there was easing of level 3 restrictions on the 1st December and lifting of the travel restriction on the 18th, but before the reintroduction of level 5 restrictions at the end of December.
