About the SEAI EV fleet assessment grant
The electrification of your fleet is an important part of reducing emissions, saving energy and promoting your brand. With the new EV fleet assessment grant, SEAI is now offering up to €8,000 to companies looking to electrify some or all of their existing fleet.
An SEAI EV fleet assessment will provide your organisation with an experienced assessor who will examine your current fleet and assist in identifying a pathway to fleet electrification. The assessor will look at electric vehicles and the charging infrastructure required to support them.
What does a fleet assessment include?
The assessment will include;

- Recommendations on which routes / vehicles are suitable for electrification
- A charging plan to support the proposed changes
- What charging infrastructure is required

An assessor is not an employee of SEAI. SEAI accepts no liability or responsibility in respect of an EV Fleet Assessment carried out by the assigned assessor.
The assessment process
Our panel of EV fleet assessors have experience in advising organisations of all sizes on what is required to electrify an existing fleet. They also have experience designing and deploying EV charging infrastructure projects. An assessor will be appointed to each business that applies for this grant.
The assessor will carry out the following
- A site visit which the business must facilitate. The time required for the site visit will depend on the size of the fleet and the level of cooperation on site. Smaller fleets may only require up to a couple of hours. Larger fleets with large depots could take several hours. The assessor can provide a more accurate estimate of the time required on site in the conversations leading to the site visit.
- The assessor will need to meet with the appropriate people who have access to the data required. These may be fleet managers or buildings/facilities managers.
- The assessor will review of all vehicles in the fleet. The business must provide access to the following where available: (note this is not an exhaustive list)
- Telematics data
- Vehicle details
- Odometer readings
- Fuel spend
Output of the assessment
The assessor will compile this data and provide two reports to the business in excel and word. These reports will set out a pathway for electrification and a suggested charging plan. This report will also be submitted to SEAI by the assessor.
SEAI has the right to use this data for analysis, however any publishing of information will be anonymised. SEAI may contact the participating business with survey.
How long will it take?
When SEAI appoint an assessor to a business the site visit, fleet review and report submission should all be completed within two months.
