Domestic BER Assessor

QQI Accredited Domestic BER Training Course

To register as a BER Assessor you must complete the QQI Accredited Domestic BER Training Course with one of SEAI’s listed Training Course Providers.

All candidates are required to achieve a minimum grade of 70% within the training course in order to register with SEAI.

The Domestic BER Training Course Specification Document provides an overview of the learning outcomes and expectations of candidates upon successful completion of the Training Course.

The Occupational Standard for Domestic BER Assessors details the required knowledge, skills and competence of a registered BER assessor. It describes the standard of knowledge expected of a registered domestic BER assessor to work independently as a competent assessor.

This standard identifies the primary activities and responsibilities that are fundamental to the Building Energy Rating Assessment of dwellings.

The occupational standard for non-domestic BER assessors details the required knowledge, skills and competence of a registered BER assessor. It describes the standard of knowledge expected of a registered non-domestic BER assessor to work independently as a competent assessor.

This standard identifies the primary activities and responsibilities that are fundamental to the Building Energy Rating Assessment of non-domestic buildings.

Domestic BER Refresher Course

The Domestic BER Refresher Course is aimed at candidates who previously completed the QQI Accredited Domestic BER Training Course and designed to update their knowledge of the DEAP methodology, DEAP manual, survey guide, DEAP 4 software and any other relevant changes to the BER programme.

First-time entrants

For first time entrants to the BER Register, if your QQI Accredited BER Training Course was completed more than 24-months ago you are required to have completed a Domestic BER Refresher Course with one of SEAI listed training providers.

Existing BER Assessors

Previously registered BER assessors re-entering the BER Register who have not been registered as a domestic BER Assessor for the preceding 24-months (or more), will be required to meet the pre-qualification criteria for registration, resubmit the Domestic BER Assessor Application Form and successfully complete the Domestic BER Assessor Refresher Course.

Non-Domestic BER Assessor

Candidates joining the Non-Domestic BER Assessor Register are required to complete the Non-Domestic BER Assessor Training Course with on of SEAI’s listed training providers.

All candidates are required to achieve a minimum grade of 70% within the final assessment of the training course in order to register with SEAI.

DEC Assessor
