Winter homes are built in the summer
Start your home energy upgrade journey now and enjoy a warm, cosy, energy‑efficient home this coming winter.
Start planning
When the sun is out and the heating is off, upgrading your home might be the last thing on your mind. But summer is the smartest time to prepare for winter comfort. In the first three months of 2026 alone, SEAI supported 12,300 home energy upgrades. And with enhanced supports announced in January, a record 25,000 grant applications have already been submitted this year. Clearly, more and more people are choosing to make their homes warmer, healthier, and more energy efficient. A good starting point is to download you existing BER.
Even though the radiators are silent for now, this is the perfect moment to start planning your upgrade. By acting early, you give yourself the time and space to make informed decisions, secure the best contractors, and ensure your home is ready before the cold weather returns.
The time is now
Once autumn arrives and the heating clicks back on, it’s usually too late to tackle high energy bills or drafty rooms. Upgrades take planning, and planning takes time.
Starting now means you can:
- Make better, more confident decisions
- Maximise the supports currently available
- Spread costs and works over a manageable timeline
- Avoid the seasonal rush for contractors
- Have all upgrades completed before peak winter demand
A little preparation today means a lot more comfort, and lower bills, when temperatures drop.
Increased grants, bigger benefits
