Project Description

The Dundalk Virtual Energy Microgrid is a research observatory based in Dundalk Institute of Technology which aims to build a real time picture of the energy flows in the local area and will model the impacts of the energy system at both grid levels, which will interface with the DS3 requirements and also the heat and cooling requirements which vary seasonally and daily. This project will be centred in a public body but will be very much led by industry leaders in their fields. The objective is to identify opportunities, both technical and commercial, for the deployment of technologies to lead in decarbonising this virtual microgrid.
