Project Description
An innovative flywheel-battery proposal that presents a hybrid of two storage technologies that aims to exploit an existing market for grid system services. The project aims to exploit the high cycle capability of the flywheel and the long range of the battery and so present a novel approach to storage in order to prove that is a more effective method of facilitating additional wind generation on the Irish system. This involves testing the feasibility of a hybrid flywheel and battery to enable the RE plant to sustain its output.
