Project Description

The purpose of this study is to establish the Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) 'needs' of emerging marine renewable technologies and to outline the appropriate measures (including MAFA) needed to ensure that the industry develops in an appropriate way offshore, including taking into account the needs of other marine users and of the marine environment. This study will consider best practice elsewhere and, also, the role which development of Ireland's offshore energy resources, which depend on MSP, could play in job creation and in meeting our national renewables targets out to 2030 and beyond.
