Excellence in Energy Efficient Design (EXEED) certification
Why follow EXEED certification
Through the programme, you follow an established standard for embedding energy efficiency into your projects. Certification shows your commitment to sustainability and best-in-class energy performance.
The energy efficient design (EED) process with EXEED includes:
- Project plan: Setting out objectives for your project and aligning them with your organisational context.
- Energy balance study: Identify how much energy the existing or planned facility/process uses, particularly the significant energy users (SEU).
- Challenge and analyse: Workshop(s) to challenge each SEU and identify design measures to drive energy efficiency and decarbonisation.
- Energy savings register: Define the energy savings, carbon savings, costs and risks of each new design measure.
Supports during the process
The EXEED programme supports your organisations entire journey to achieve EXEED certification. The process includes training, mentorship, funding support and final certification.
Steps to achieve certification
After completing an EXEED project, you can get a registered certification body to review the documentation compiled during your project design phase.
Once verified as following the EXEED approach, your project will be awarded certification against a recognised Irish standard. You also unlock an added 10% grant payment (up to €30,000).
EXEED registered certification bodies
Registered certification bodies must meet the requirements of the EXEED program competency framework including:
- Accreditation by the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) or equivalent to international standard ISO 50001
- Meet competency requirements to audit measurement and verification plans and reports
