Project Description

The precise measurement of physical quantities is a key task in technology as well as in basic science. Quantum metrology has enormous potential to deliver improvements in precision compared to our existing measuring devices. However, the full potential of quantum metrology will only be fulfilled if important practical challenges can be overcome. The goal of this research programme is to develop methods to address some of these challenges and that will aid the design of next-generation quantum sensors. The core idea is to exploit recent developments in quantum thermodynamics to enhance robustness and resource-efficiency in quantum metrology.
