Project Description

The OPTIX proposal, "Optimising Positive-Energy Districts through Interoperable Digital Platforms," aims to enhance urban district energy efficiency using digital platforms to integrate renewable energy systems. The proposal outlines six objectives: developing a synergistic renewable energy system, creating real-time energy system monitoring digital twin models, implementing a secure, blockchain-based energy trading platform, conducting real-world effectiveness testing in diverse European contexts, developing a scalable model for widespread adoption, and disseminating project knowledge. The proposal addresses two main challenges: renewable energy integration and digitalisation of energy systems, emphasising the use of solar PV, advanced storage technologies, and digital twin models to optimise energy use and promote peer-to-peer energy trading. The project's ambitious goals include a 30% reduction in energy demand and a 40% decrease in CO2 emissions in pilot districts, aiming for a significant impact on energy efficiency, sustainability, and climate neutrality in urban areas.
