About the Large Industry Energy Network (LIEN)

LIEN members are companies with annual energy bills of €1 million or over. SEAI work with these companies to improve their energy performance and inspire others by sharing their experience. LIEN members benefit from access to energy expertise and knowledge, built up over two decades. They are part of a group that are kept up to date on the latest technology and supports available in energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Who can join LIEN

Companies are eligible if they are either spending at least €1 million on energy annually, or are certified to or pursuing ISO 50001 certification. Certain commitments must be fulfilled by companies signing up to LIEN. Companies must:

  • Develop an energy management programme and action plan
  • Set and review energy targets
  • Report annually on energy performance
