We have an exciting opportunity in the Funded Research Team/Unit in the Research, Innovation & Electricity Department.

SEAI’s roles and responsibilities in respect of research and innovation are mandated in the Sustainable Energy Act 2002 and include coordinating, promoting, and assisting research, development and demonstration of technologies related to sustainable energy.

The Department includes teams in the areas of Research & Innovation, Offshore Energy, Electricity & Wind, and International Research. The team is composed primarily of analytical and technical experts from engineering, science or similar technical backgrounds who are focused on enabling and/or developing solutions to the challenge of decarbonising Ireland’s energy system.

The dynamic Funded Research team contribute to the Department’s objectives via the National Energy Research, Development and Demonstration Funding Programme Annual Calls, collating national data on a publicly available repository, enabling energy funded research dissemination such as through an annual conference, seminar series, national energy funding coordination and working closely with colleagues across the Department, across SEAI organisation, government departments and the EU.

This position will play a key role in the Research, Innovation & Electricity Department. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and innovative team who are committed to the high-quality delivery of SEAI’s Research, Development & Demonstration (RD&D) Programme. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Research, Innovation & Electricity, and will line manage a team (currently six).

We have an exciting opportunity in Data and Insights Department. The Data and Insights Department at SEAI is responsible for informing evidence-based decision-making and the implementation of sustainable energy solutions through the provision of policy-relevant research and guidance, robust evidence and energy modelling and statistics. In particular, the department is responsible for:

  • providing targeted and timely evidence to inform policy formation, decision-making and implementation.
  • improving the availability and accessibility of data and information to inform the national debate.
  • working with other SEAI Departments and organisations to engage society on energy issues in the context of the wider sustainability agenda.
  • providing economic, technical, behavioural and policy analysis and support to key stakeholders in the Irish energy sector.

This position will play a key role in the Data and Insights Department. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and innovative team who are committed to the high-quality delivery of SEAI’s Energy Modelling, Energy Policy and Programme Evaluation, Behavioural Economics and Energy Statistics functions. The successful candidate will report to the Programme Manager for Energy Modelling.

We have multiple exciting opportunities in the National Retrofit Directorate, in the Supply Chain Programme and Retrofit & DCB Programme. The National Retrofit Directorate is responsible for delivering energy efficiency and retrofit programmes in the residential and community sectors. The main areas of programme activity include delivering the national retrofit programme and supporting communities to implement sustainable energy use strategies and deliver energy efficiency projects.

These positions will play a key role in National Retrofit for the following two programmes:

Supply Chain Programme – you will be joining a new team supporting the development of the capabilities and capacity of the retrofit supply chain including people, skills, products, and materials.

To reach climate targets, we need to scale home retrofit numbers to tens of thousands of homes performing a deeper retrofit. Future programmes are expected to drive significant demand in the wider retrofit market, this will require significant scaling up of the complete retrofit sector from contractors, installers, designers, specifiers, products, and materials.

This position will work with programmes across the Directorate and its three departments: Delivery, Technical, Communities and National Retrofit.

The successful candidate will report to the Programme Manager for Retrofit Supply Chain.

Ad-hoc nationwide travel will be required for this position.

Retrofit Programme - you will be joining a new team to develop and deploy grant schemes to support homeowners retrofit their homes, focusing on the delivery of existing and new schemes and the deployment of new technologies and retrofit solutions.

Ireland’s national retrofit programme is aimed at upgrading the Irish housing stock to high standards of energy efficiency and renewable energy usage. SEAI is developing new supports and approaches for retrofitting of our housing stock such as the One Stop Shop service.

You will be supporting the expansion, development and delivery of existing and new schemes and the deployment of new technologies and retrofit solutions.

The successful candidate will report to the Programme Manager for National Retrofit Technical and will join an enthusiastic and innovative team who are committed to the high-quality delivery of Ireland’s National Retrofit Plan.

Ad-hoc nationwide travel will be required for this position.
