Training for non-domestic BER assessors
Fundamental skills
To register as a non-domestic BER assessor, you need to show technical knowledge and competence in a construction related area. You'll have to provide proof of qualifications and membership of a professional body.

Non-domestic BER training course
To join the register, you must complete the Non-Domestic BER Assessor Training Course with one of SEAI’s listed training providers. You'll need to achieve a minimum grade of 70% in the final assessment of the training course.
The learning outcomes are split into six areas:
- The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and the national calculation methodology (NCM)
- Building type, activity and NCM databases
- Building geometry and zoning
- Identify and input HVAC systems
- Part L of the Building Regulations and using software to show compliance
- Using SBEM to carry out calculations and interpreting results
