When to join

Once you establish your community group, take the next step and join the sustainable energy network.  At this point it is ideal if your group includes a wide range of energy users in your community.

Benefits of joining

You will be assigned a local mentor who can provide guidance and support. Your community will be able to learn about energy technologies and solutions. This will help you to start thinking about energy use in your own community in an informed way.  Your mentor will be able to share solutions and examples from other communities similar to your own. 

Learn from communities and experts

Members receive a quarterly newsletter with updates, case studies, and a list of upcoming events and webinars. Members can also contact and visit other communities who have common interests or who have conducted local energy projects. The Sustainable Energy Community Network is a sharing and learning network that helps new members achieve their ambitions.

Access expertise and financial support

Your SEAI Mentor will help your community to identify and plan for suitable energy projects. Your group will then be eligible to apply for dedicated funding from the SEAI. 

How to join

To join the network you will need to fill in the registration form. We use this form to capture your key areas of interest and see how we can provide the right supports to you. It helps:

  • Your mentor to develop the right information for you.
  • SEAI to organise visits or introductions with nearby communities who share your interests.

Your steering committee can change your structure and aims as your community develops. So there is no need to worry about this when completing the form.

You will need

Contact details

You will need to provide details for your main point of contact. This includes name, address, phone number and email. If your community has a website or social media account you can include those. These will be displayed on your community's page on the Community Energy Network map. 

Community structure

You will need to identify the type of structure your community has and how many people are on the steering committee. Find out more about creating a steering committee.

Aims and targets

You will need to share your energy aims and your areas of interest. We will share this information with the network so other energy communities can find you.
